Biography

kim jones is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is also certified as a USA Weightlifting club coach. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2001, and obtained her Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount in 2007.

Kim began her career in fitness in 2002 as a personal Trainer and Operations Assistant Manager at Bally Total Fitness. Soon after in 2003 she entered into high school athletics. Kim was responsible for providing guard player development as an Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Notre Dame Academy. The following year she was promoted to Head Coach, and led her teams to consistent playoff appearances during her four year tenure. It was during the 2005 season that Kim beganmplementing pre-season and in-season strength and conditioning for the Varsity Basketball program. Fortunately, the basketball team’s improvement in strength and power caught the eye of the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach. During the 2006 season he asked her to design a strength and conditioning program for his team as well. Kim then became head strength coach for both programs for the final two years of her tenure at Notre Dame Academy.

After coaching at the high school level for 5 years, Kim began a career in intercollegiate athletics in 2008. She interned with UCLA football in their Athletic Performance program. Kim coached football players through functional and mobility based rehabilitation exercises after lifting sessions, monitored workouts for injured players, and assisted Athletic Performance coaches with the following programs: men’s and women’s volleyball, softball, tennis, and diving. Upon completion of the internship Kim was hired as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She designed strength, speed, power, agility, and conditioning programs for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball, tennis, golf, and swim. She also taught Olympic lifts, and other core lifts, to freshman and junior college transfers for the following teams: men’s basketball, men’s and women’s volleyball, baseball, softball and water polo. Career highlights include training the 2009 – 2010 women’s soccer team that achieved their first Big West Tournament appearance since 2004, and training the 2009 – 2010 men’s soccer team that had a player selected in the 2010 Major League Draft.

Kim is currently an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the USTA (United States Tennis Association). She designs acceleration, speed, agility, and strength programs for junior level tennis players, and also administers injury prevention programs, coordination development, linear and lateral movement training, and kinesthetic awareness to decrease muscle imbalances in their pre-adolescent athletes.
